Ten Seas and Rock Islands

So this trip took a total of a week from planning to completion, that in itself amazes me; and inspires me to no end. The fact that me and my friends can say "lets go here, do this, and do this, for under 200 bucks" and that will take us to just about anywhere in the country and leave us with memories that'll last a life time. This was no different, the 7 hour drive from Columbus to Chattanooga was not bad and filled with laughs and sights. Once there we were humbled by the great food and helpful people that pointed us in the right direction of our rock induced craze. A particular man that I dont remember the name of had a vibrant tattoo of a Koi that to be honest i kind of fell in love with.

An awesome dude that helped us work on a bouldering problem called Super Mario Bros located in Little Rock City, a giant boulderfield on a mountain just outside of Chattanooga. The climbing coupled with a good friend and beautiful sights (including the river off the side of the Montlake Properties).

I wont forget this place, mark my words.

As far as the non-climbing times, we captured some of that aswell. We stayed on a boat on the Chickamauga River, the 100+ year old paddle vessel aptly named "The Delta Queen" which certainly lived up to her name with grandour wooden railings and beautiful craftsmanship. The rooms were like a 5x7 shoebox but were plenty big enough for our needs.
We saw the sites, the city itself is beautiful and full of vigor, though a complete ghost-town on Sunday night.

Re-Works

Admittedly my last post was not up to snuff. The week before finals was filled with running around campus doing things with friends before hell week engaged the full attention of my brain. i rushed my previous work, specifically the startrails, which take a rather long time to edit. I went back, took a look at what i've done before and what i want to do, got a fresh pack and some coffee and sat down for an all-nighter. I didnt take care when editing my work this time. Instead of spending the minimal amount of time editing (and thus doing a minimal amount of editing, something that I held important to my style before this post) i spent loads of time on each set. This is not to say that i created something out of nothing, and that my photos are the pure representation of my work on the computer, but rather that i can make many little tweaks here and there and result in an image i'm proud to put my name on. Through these past 48 or so hours i came unto my own conclusions about post processing and the artist's editing technique. I rejected previous ideas and new processes alike, i feel like i came into my own when working on these.

My beliefs changed during this time aswell. It reminded me of how many people i show myself to and what i post here and on sites on the internet show about me. These images i put up should be work that im proud of, through and through, and are shown to you, the viewer, with the full impact that my images have on me. This is most likely very convoluted but what it boils down to is this: Make sure that you are proud of what you show to others.

Macro on Infinity

So for my final project for this quarter in photography i wanted to revisit ideas that interested me. Both these ideas stem from the inital fact that the camera's lens is amazing in several ways. It sees more than we can, sees less than we can, focuses on more than we can, and less than we can. It is both better and worse than everything we are used to seeing.

I followed this thought and pondered on two things, focal and frame and stretched each to their respective maximum.
